and your heart has all the roots.
Let’s grow together.” —Daily Haiku on Love by Tyler Knott Gregson (via tylerknott)
Wait… really?? First of all, FAT is necessary for your body. Without FAT, we would die. It protects our organs, aids in the development of cell membranes and hormones, and insulates our bodies. On some body frames, thighs will always touch. Some people DO have medical conditions that inhibit them from losing weight, so what would you say to them? That they should live their lives miserable, ashamed, that they’re an insult to themselves?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m ALL for being healthy and fit— Healthy in body, but also in mind and spirit! Is look at yourself in the mirror and hating yourself and calling yourself disgusting going to make you happier, or even make you thinner? No. It’s going to make you miserable, and it’s going to steal your happiness and your freedom. I should know, I did it for years. Being an insulin-dependant diabetic changed my slim frame, and I eventually resorted to a very potentially fatal eating disorder called “diabulimia”. Was I happier? Did I feel good? NO. It stole my life for years.
The world will SCREAM those above messages at you. But you’re only failing yourself if you echo the screams at yourself.
So eat clean. Nourish your body. Stay active, exercise, and do your very best to be fit and healthy! You’ll feel better, and your body will thank you. But don’t do it out of self-hatred, do it out of LOVE FOR YOURSELF. Don’t punish your body, TAKE CARE OF IT. Self-hatred isn’t going to get you fit faster, and it’s not going to help your progress; it’s only going to inhibit it. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Come on, tumblr community: let’s stop propagating these lies! And really— if you think that your thighs touching is holding you back from being “everything you want to be”, if you’re weak enough to let a few lbs stop you, I think it’s time for some strength training— in more than just a physical sense.
I wish us all the best on the journey to health, and I hope we can all travel it with joy instead of dragging ourselves along in self-hatred.
And PS: It’s true, breasts are made up primarily of fat. And you know what? I LOVE mine : )
